How to be admitted to the Hospital

Your stay in the Hospital begins at the Admissions Service, where they will have the order for admission from your doctor. To be admitted, you need to bring the Tarjeta Sanitària Individual (TSI: Individual Healthcare Card), the hospital pre-admission form (the yellow form) and the national identity document.

You can contact the Admissions Service if you have any queries by phoning: 93 367 41 65.

Once the admissions formalities are out of the way, you will be shown the Hospital Unit and bed that you have been allocated. At the Hospitalised Patients Unit, a nurse will meet you, give you some useful information on the workings of the unit and will carry out the first interview to monitor your state of health.

During your stay, you will be given the Hospital Guidebook, which explains how the hospital works: Visiting hours, meals, support services, etc.

Useful information during your stay

It is a good idea for you to get to know the staff who will be working with you, particularly the doctor and the nurse, who are the people directly responsible for you. For this purpose, all staff members wear a badge with their name and professional status on it, as well as having uniforms of different colours: Medical personnel wear white, nursing staff wear dark green, and the other colours are worn by staff who form the   support teams.

Next to your bed there is an intercommunicator to call nursing staff: Use it whenever necessary.

Personal items and Valuables

The person who has been admitted to the Hospital should bring clothing such as pyjamas, dressing gown, change of clothing and slippers and personal toiletry items.

We recommend that you bring as few personal belongings as possible, but in any case, there is a Service for looking after valuables located in the Admissions Service.

The Hospital will not accept responsibility for any objects not left with this service.

Food

It is important that patients follow the diet set by the doctors, and that this is not altered by any kind of food brought in by family members.

The Dietetics Service will provide a daily menu so that you can choose the following day's meal.

Mealtimes are:

  • Breakfast 8.30am.
  • Lunch 1pm.
  • Tea 4pm.
  • Dinner 7pm.

Discharge from the hospital

Remember that you should collect the medical discharge report from the hospital, as this may be useful later. Take note of our staff's recommendations, and feel free to ask any questions you feel necessary.

Remember that on the day of your discharge will be given after the medical report, you must leave your room between 12 midday and 2pm, to allow other patients to be admitted.

Social Work

The Social Work Service forms a part of the healthcare teams. The social workers attend to problems originating from your hospital stay, or from the illness itself.

If you require their services, you can request them from the nurse or doctor responsible for you.

Religious Service

There is a team of persons available to give support to patients and their families if they so wish. To request this, you can go to the information desk (in the hall of the Hospital), contact the nursing staff, or contact the Catholic Religious Service directly.

The chapel is located on the 2nd floor. Mass is held on Sundays and Public Holidays at 5pm.

We can also arrange contact with persons representing other religions.

Telephones and Television

All rooms have a telephone and television. To use them, follow the instructions that you will find in your room. The hours for receiving calls are from 9am to 9pm. There is a payphone in the main lobby.

Keep the volume of the television low. Headset has to respect the rest of the other patients.
